The 2009 Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest was a great success in Mississippi. Approximately 400 entries were received. Many thanks to all participants in this year’s contest. Every participant has earned the honorary title of Reading Rainbow Young Writer & Illustrator and will be receiving a Certificate of Achievement signed by Levar Burton, host of the PBS series Reading Rainbow.
This year’s winners have been identified in each grade level, and the entries from the 1st Place winners have been forwarded for inclusion in the national competition.
The local winners are as follows:
Kindergarten:

First Grade:

Second Grade:
