"Mississippians
are known nationally for their generosity. This fact is put to
action by the people who volunteer for Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
We (MPB) and the citizens across the state are most fortunate
to be on the receiving end of such cheerful and unselfish service
provided by our volunteers," said MPB Executive Director Marie
Antoon. "To these special people, the giving of themselves is
not a job but a lifestyle, and may I add, one that should be commended.
I thank each of you for lending a helping hand-you brighten our
days."
MPB
volunteers assist during MPB's radio drive times and television
pledge campaigns, along with providing their services to help
with various agency needs throughout the year.
A
large number of MPB volunteers donate their time through the MPB
Radio Reading Service , which is in its 20 th year of existence.
This service features radio broadcasts of newspapers, books and
magazines for persons who are unable to read the printed word,
either because of visual handicaps or because of other physical
handicaps, such as the inability to turn pages.
