Thanks
StoryCorps Participants!
Mississippi
Public Broadcasting (MPB) thanks all who participated in this
most worthwhile event.
It
is important these extraordinary, hurricane-related survival
accounts have been heard and documented for future generations.
This
is real history.
Coastal
residents came in pairs to interview each other regarding “anything
they wanted to talk about” at the traveling recording studio
stationed from December 1- 18 at Prime Outlets in Gulfport .
These
interviews about “anything,” to nobody's surprise, documented
personal stories of survival during and after Katrina. Not only
did each participant receive a complimentary CD of the interview,
it was archived in the Library of Congress.
MPB,
with the financial support from the Foundation for Public Broadcasting
in Mississippi, and The Sun Herald helped to bring StoryCorps
to the Coast.
Portions
of selected interviews were aired on two shows of MPB's Radio
program “Beyond Katrina” during the StoryCorps visit.
Additional
selections will air nationally on National Public Radio. Dates/times
of airing are not available at this time.
