To honor each of these winners, MPB and its partners hosted a two-day 2007 Reading Rainbow Contest Winners’ Celebration.

These kindergarten through third grade students began their first day with lunch at Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) and were later in the spotlight by recording their own stories in the MPB Radio Studio for future broadcast.

Afterwards, they had some “shopping time” at Northpark Mall to spend their gift certificates, compliments of the mall.

Later that evening, each winner enjoyed dinner, compliments of

Chick-fil-A at Dogwood Festival Market

The celebration continued the next morning with breakfast and the reading of their own stories before an audience at Barnes & Noble, off of Count y Line Road.  Following “story time,” each received a Barnes and Noble gift certificate and browsed the book store to choose a book of his/her choice.
