MPB Programs Honored at 2006 Emmy Awards |

( Jackson , Miss.) - Mississippi Public Broadcasting's (MPB) Writers episode, "Southern Humorists," and Conversations earned 2006 Southeast Regional Emmy Awards.
Writers "Southern Humorists" received an Emmy for best talk program and Conversations received an Emmy for its original theme music.
Edie Greene, MPB's executive producer of Writers "Southern Humorists," expressed, "It's my pleasure to work with this great creative team to produce Writers . It's a group effort and the Emmy honors everyone's contribution."
Knight Bruce, with Mississippi-based Padaja Productions, composed the music for MPB's Conversations and commented, "It's very fulfilling to have your work recognized by a jury of your peers. It's fantastic to win an Emmy for it. Thank you Mississippi Public Broadcasting for the opportunity to write the Conversations' television theme music."
Writers "Southern Humorists" featured the original Sweet Potato Queen Jill Conner Browne, author and humorist Roy Blount , Jr. and Vogue magazine senior writer Julia Reed .
In this episode, these three writers sat down at Hal & Mal's Restaurant and Brewery in downtown Jackson to discuss what's funny and why with Writers host Gene Edwards .
