MPB-Radio airs all-day Katrina special

(Jackson, Miss.) - Tune in to Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) Radio throughout the day and evening on Tuesday, August 29th, for special programming observing the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

 

MPB Radio will provide live coverage of a memorial ceremony from Biloxi’s Town Green beginning at 8:00 a.m. with MPB host Kevin Farrell.

 

Between 9:00 a.m. and noon, MPB takes a look back as Gulf Coast residents share their memories and long journeys to recovery with MPB hosts Gene Edwards and Patty Davis, along with a look to Mississippi's tomorrow.

 

At 2:00 p.m., MPB marks the event with a documentary following three Biloxi families through their grueling recovery efforts.

 

From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., American Routes presents “After the Storm:  A Year in the Flood's Wake, where life has been anything but easy in the Big Easy.

 

To conclude the day’s special Katrina programming, listen to the Tavis Smiley Show: A New Orleans Town Hall Meeting from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. focusing on the many challenges still ahead for the people of New Orleans.
