MPB airs TV special addressing effects of long-term deployment on preschoolers

( Jackson , Miss.) - Watch Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) on Wednesday, December 27 th , at 8:00 p.m. as When Parents Are Deployed addresses the challenges young American military families face with long-termed deployment.

 

With more than 700,000 children of military families under the age of five separated from their mother or father this holiday season, Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization behind Sesame Street , responded with this half-hour special hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr.

 

When Parents Are Deployed captures the extraordinary courage and touching vulnerability of both parents and their children. It provides valuable information and tips for military families and those who love them.

 

Out of admiration earned from interviewing military families for Talk, Listen, Connect , an educational outreach project created to assist the children of the military cope with the enormous separation anxiety they face, When Parents Are Deployed was produced to make these stories available to all Americans.
