MPB airs Mississippi-produced holiday special

( Jackson , Miss.) - Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) will air A Special Visitor Comes to Possum Ridge , a story depicting small town Mississippi life in the 1940's, on Thursday, December 28 th , at 8:30 p.m.

In this holiday special produced by the Old Capitol Museum staff, a gentle stranger arrives by train in Possum Ridge, a fictitious Mississippi railroad town. Through the visitor's eyes, children of today will learn about the state during and immediately after World War II: scarcity of food and money, soldiers returning home and the improving economy after the war. Farming, logging and railroad industries are mentioned.

The special visitor, named “Lucky,” has traveled the railways for almost one year, desperately trying to discover his identity after a blow to his head induced amnesia. Lucky's encounter with the Tuttles – a family that includes 25 adopted children – changes his life and the lives of all the children of Possum Ridge.
