Mississippi Public Broadcasting airs A Call-Out Session with Bill Cosby, Feb. 20 |
|
( Jackson , Miss.) - Watch Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) television as A Call-Out Session with Bill Cosby airs on Tuesday, February 20, at 9:00 p.m. This two-hour session, held in Greenwood, is one of 25 events held in cities across the nation by actor/comedian Bill Cosby as part of his crusade to motivate and inspire communities to take action toward solving problems such as crime, illiteracy and teen parents that plague communities today. Cosby's “Call-Out Sessions” include testimonials by people from the community who have been arrested, abused, and suffered from serious crime conditions, and successfully turned around their lives. This Greenwood event includes four such stories of triumph over adversity. According to Cosby, one of the most valuable aspects of his "Call Outs" is the opportunity people have to hear these success stories. Although he comes to these cities for just one day, his hope is that his forums will bring community groups together and inspire them to move forward after he's gone. Cosby is passionate about this message that targets young people and their parents, offering both encouragement and options for real solutions to what Cosby sees as self-destructive behavior. To motivate parents he tells them, "Those of you with children need to talk to your children." "You need to know who they're hanging out with and what they're listening to, and you need to know if your child has a gun or knows how to get a gun."
