(Jackson, Miss.) - Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) and the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC) are partnering to air Caring for Your Parents: A Southern Remedy Special Wednesday, April 2 at 8:30 p.m. immediately following the national documentary Caring for Your Parents at 7:00 p.m. Caring for Your Parents details the personal struggles many families face in caring for their aging parents. The documentary is a Public Broadcasting System production. MPB’s Caring for Your Parents: A Southern Remedy Special gives Mississippians the opportunity to ask questions during a live audience call-in show. The program features a panel of UMC specialists answering questions on care giving and aging issues. Gene Edwards and Dr. Rick deShazo, hosts of MPB Radio’s Southern Remedy, moderate the show. Featured guests are Dr. Greg Gordon, assistant professor of psychiatry at UMC and host of MPB Radio’s Relatively Speaking, and Dr. Kim Teal, UMC geriatric specialist. “At MPB we continue our tradition of community service by offering crucial information for Mississippians to assist them in finding the support they need to care for their parents,” says Jay Woods, MPB Deputy Executive Director in charge of content.
