 Welcomes Rosemary Blakeslee to Board

(Jackson, Miss.) - Governor Haley Barbour recently appointed Rosemary Blakeslee, a first grade teacher at Bayou View Elementary School in Gulfport to the Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) Board of Directors.  The MPB Board oversees the operations of Mississippi Public Broadcasting.

“Mrs. Blakeslee’s vast background experience in the field of elementary education will prove to be especially valuable as MPB continues to focus on providing Mississippi’s preK-12 educators with relevant multimedia educational resources and services,” said MPB Executive Director Marie Antoon.

Blakeslee has taught for 14 years at Bayou View Elementary School. Previously, she was an elementary school teacher in the Meridian and Holly Springs school districts. Blakeslee is a current member of the Governor’s Teacher Advisory Council and has served as president of the Gulfport Junior Auxiliary.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve on the MPB Board and look forward to working with other board members to help ensure that public broadcasting remains the most accessible educational resource in our state," commented Blakeslee.

In addition to Blakeslee, members of the MPB Board of Directors include Chairman Perry Sansing, Ann Brock, Daryl Lewis, Dr. Ronald Mason, Jr. and Dr. Beth Sewell.

MPB operates an eight station public television network, an eight-station public radio network, and the Radio Reading Service of Mississippi.  MPB serves all 82 counties of the state of Mississippi providing quality programming instructional and public programming.  Since its first broadcast in 1970, MPB has won over 350 awards for its local productions including numerous regional Emmys, a national Emmy and Parents’ Choice Award for early childhood instructional programs.
