MPB announces New Children’s Programming Schedule

(Jackson, Miss.)¾ Beginning Labor Day, September 7, Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) television will begin its new children’s schedule for fall.

The highest quality of programming will continue with PBS KIDS® Raising Readers favorites such as “Between the Lions,” “Sesame Street,”  “WorldWorld,” “Super Why!” and “Martha Speaks.”

Although the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) is no longer distributing “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” for weekday viewing, MPB is able to air “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood” on Saturday mornings.

“Dinosaur Train,” a brand new show for preschoolers created by the Jim Henson Company, and a new version of “The Electric Company” will air weekdays.

“Dinosaur Train” is designed to encourage basic scientific thinking skills as children learn about natural science, natural history and paleontology.

“The Electric Company” targets the six- to nine-year-old audience by reinforcing strong literacy skills in a cool, hip format.

Visit www.mpbonline.org for the most up-to-date children’s schedule and learning activities corresponding to the children’s series.
