Join the thrill of the job hunt with MPB’s “Job Hunter” |
|
JACKSON, Miss.—Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) today announced the premiere of “Job Hunter” on Wednesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. This pilot television program guides viewers through the journey to find advanced manufacturing careers in Mississippi.
“The program is fast paced and presented in a fresh, innovative style,” says MPB executive producer Rick Klein. “It should appeal to our target audience – young people looking for advanced careers in manufacturing.”
Host Leslie Palmer seeks out information from top executives in the metalworking field on how to secure a career in the industry. In a field-guide approach, Palmer, the job hunter, visits employers along the Gulf Coast and in Central Mississippi including Northrop Grumman, Trinity Yachts, Laurel Machine and Foundry, and the Hol-mac Corporation.
Visits to three community college Centers for Excellence – Gulf Coast Community College, Jones County Junior College and Pearl River Community College – provide the training, instruction and guidance necessary to help land a metalworking job with a good salary, benefits and advancement potential.
“It’s imperative for Mississippi to be competitive in the global market, which was the main reason for creating ‘Job Hunter,’” says Jay Woods, MPB deputy executive director in charge of content. “This program is an excellent way to connect people, training and jobs to ensure a highly skilled workforce and the continuation of our state’s manufacturing base.”
