Get 2 College
Another good informational source that can help both high school students and parents would be Get2College.org. According to their website, Get2College.org, a division of Education Services Foundation (ESF) (created as a nonprofit in 1995 to help Mississippi students have access to higher education), “offers a comprehensive college planning program to make available a range of information and counseling to students and their families on preparation and paying for college.”
Services are provided at Get2College centers located in Jackson, North Mississippi, and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and Get2College has workshops throughout the state.
They provide “one-on-one free counseling to more than 4,000 students and parents annually in the areas of college choice, ACT/SAT Prep, essay-writing, resume-building, personality assessment to explore career options, assistance in completing admissions and financial aid, scholarship search, and interview skills (including practice interviews). The outreach team also provides to 30,000 students and parents per year through more than 400 workshops (schools, churches, communities, etc.) in the following areas of freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year college readiness, ACT Prep, and financial aid.
Get2College also works with the Jackson Junior League, Gulf Coast Junior Auxiliary, College Goal Sunday, Operation Shoestring and Lanier High School’s Youth and the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling to help dispense its resources and workshops. Information on these topics are also available on their website Get2College.org.
