Posted by Amber White on

For students who have experienced a death of a parent or has a parent who is permanently and totally disabled, the Kid’s Chance of Mississippi scholarship fund was established by the Mississippi Bar Foundation under the Administrative Law and Workers’ Compensation Section of the Mississippi Bar for this reason.

According to MSBar.Org, Kid’s Chance provides scholarships for Mississippi students who plan on attending vocational/technical school or college.  Mississippi residents between the ages of 17 and 23 are allowed to apply for this scholarship.

The scholarship is good for 1 year but those who receive it can apply each year they are in school but they have to be making satisfactory academic strides. Students must also demonstrate financial need.

The deadline to submit applications is May 1st and awards will be determined by a scholarship committee (the foundation’s board of trustees) and are awarded in late June.  The amount is undetermined at this time.
