Rise With Me

Another serious contributor as to why kids drop out of high school is physical abuse that takes place behind closed doors at home.  This abuse mental, sexual, and physical inflict direct damage to the child involved.  Kids become scared and often feel unsafe and alone because they are threatened not to tell or are too embarrassed to tell.  The weight that is placed on them soon becomes too much and they mentally and physically check out of school and push the people they care most about away.  This is especially harmful when that person is in a relationship.  It causes doubt, suspicion, and hurt within the other person which can cause them to do unwise things and feel certain ways.  Watch the video Rise With Me above to see how sexual abuse affects one high school teen and her boyfriend and see how they find the courage to talk to one another about each other’s difficulties.
