Taking the Easy Way Out

Posted by Amber White on

When students drop out of high school, they tend to believe that by doing so they are leaving behind all of their stress and self-doubt in the form of tests, projects, and homework.  It would seem that they have conjured up a dream reality of an easier life.  By ditching school, the academic responsibilities that once weighed down over their heads are no more; freedom is just over the horizon.  But what these teens must remember is freedom comes at a pretty high price.  These students fail to realize that bills have to be paid, rent becomes due, and even the social freedom they desire becomes soiled by the job they must obtain to survive.  The reality of it is most drop outs aren't ready to take on the real world.  Watch the video Got Education? to see how one student's brush with reality helps him learn the importance of a high school education.
