AIRS: THURSDAY, JUNE 1 AT 8PM​

Shot on location in Port Isaac, England, this behind-the-scenes documentary looks at the international hit series Doc Martin. It features revealing interviews with cast members, a look at the town known as Portwenn, and a unique guided tour of the sets from producer Phillippa Braithwaite. The special, filmed during the sixth season, also contrasts rehearsals with final content to provide viewers a fascinating look at how the finished product is made.

 

MISSISSIPPI'S FREE STATE OF JONES

For a limited time, MPB is making copies of Mississippi’s Free State of Jones available for the public during our pledge drive. Supporters who give during and of the four airings of Mississippi’s Free State of Jones will be able to get a copy of the DVD – ONLY AVAILABLE DURING PLEDGE – or a signed copy of the book behind the documentary, The Free State of Jones: Mississippi’s Longest Civil War by Victoria E. Bynum, or both.

JFK: THE LOST INAUGRUAL GALA

AIRS: FRIDAY, JUNE 2 AT 8:30PM​

A first-ever look at the 1961 gala event celebrating President John F. Kennedy's election, featuring performances by Frank Sinatra (who also produced the evening), Ethel Merman, Harry Belafonte, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Gene Kelly and more. Because of a blizzard the night of the event, the program could not be broadcast on NBC as planned. This PBS broadcast is hosted by Phylicia Rashad.

 

Sgt. Pepper's Musical Revolution

AIRS: SATURDAY, JUNE 3 AT 8PM 

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the groundbreaking album that ranks #1 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Features material never before accessible outside of Abbey Road Studios.

 

JOE BONAMASSA: LIVE AT THE GREEK THEATRE

AIRS: SUNDAY, JUNE 4 AT 9:30PM 

Celebrated blues rock master, Joe Bonamassa delivers a musical tribute to The Three Kings Of the Blues at the legendary Greek Theatre filmed in August 2015. Bonamassa is backed by a stellar band of blues musicians including Anton Fig, Michael Rhodes, Reese Wynans, Lee Thornburg, Paulie Cerra, Ron Dziubla, Kirk Fletcher, Mahalia Barnes, Jade MaCrae and Juanita Tippins.
