Produced by Cheng, the documentary film opens with the Chinese making their journey to Mississippi in the 19th century. This unique story shows how Chinese families built an enduring kinship and friendship through small town markets and grocery stores in the Delta. The documentary draws on the memories of the Chinese WWII veterans and their families who stepped forward to serve in the war.

“This wonderful and comprehensive documentary film series tells many of the life stories of the courageous WWII Mississippi Delta Chinese veterans and families,” said Gilroy Chow, president of the Mississippi Delta Chinese Heritage Museum. “It chronicles their often arduous lives before and after the war in a clear and flowing way.”
