Airs: Friday, August 21, at 7:30pm on MPB TV.

The Natchez Trace Parkway meanders southwest for 400 miles from the southern Appalachians through the foothills of Tennessee, among the emerald forests of Alabama, and along the lazy bayous of Mississippi. More than a scenic drive, the Trace is a pathway through 10,000 years of history. Before the Europeans, it was an ancient trail for America's native peoples. In the 1820s, it became one of the most traveled roads in the United States. Today, the Natchez Trace Parkway is one of the most visited of all national parks.
