A virus that can cause severe respiratory problems in children has been identified for the first time in Mississippi. The State Department of Health says it’s confirmed the first enterovirus D-68 case in the state. The case involved a Hancock County child who was hospitalized but has since recovered. Dr. Paul Byers is with the Department of Health. He talks more about the illness, and what to do now that it has made its way into Mississippi.

Jackson's new mayor is hoping to change the way the rest of Mississippi perceives the Capital City. According to data collected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, there were 50 murders in Jackson last year. The Capital City also routinely appears near the top of the list of the most dangerous cities in America. That's a reality Jackson's new mayor wants to change. Tony Yarber took office a little over a hundred days ago. He joins us to talk about both the reality and the perception of crime in his city, and what he hopes to do about it.
