MPB holds a yearly Stop the Drop summit, bringing educators, parents, and students together for an in-depth look at the dropout crisis in Mississippi. The summit aims to educate parents and educators on dropout prevention methods, engage their students, and focus on getting students to not only graduate, but to become productive members of the community. Students share their stories, discussing factors that impact the decision to stay in school and engage each other and the community in the search for a solution to the dropout crisis.
This year, the Stop the Drop summit will be held on December 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl, MS. Jasmine Murray, Miss Mississippi 2014, will be the keynote speaker at the event. Jasmine will also sing the National Anthem and sign autographs until 12 p.m. There is no charge to attend the summit, but registration is required.
