Overview

The Early Childhood division is dedicated to providing parents and children with a variety of television programs and resources that encourage learning and activity.  Our various programming for children along with outreach initiatives such as Between the Lions, Ready to Learn, and Going to School enable children's learning experience while encouraging them to read and learn.

Between the Lions

  • MPB in partnership wi WGBH in Boston and Sirius Thinking, LTD.  have been producing the Between the Lions episodes for the past 3 years.
  • In 2005, MPB, Barksdale Reading Institute, WGBH in Boston and the Early Childhood Institute - MSU partnered to do a research based project called, Between the Lions Preschool Literacy Initiative.  The project focuses providing early reading preschool literacy and language activities for 3, 4, & 5 year olds in child care centers.
  • Child care providers are provided on-site mentoring and modeling of how to use Between the Lions episodes to instill in children a joy of reading, books, and exciting ways to learn the alphabet sounds
