Welcome to Mississippi
Public Broadcasting's educational site — a
place designed to enhance the work of educators,
students, parents and learners of all ages through
quality programs, resources and services that educate,
entertain and enlighten.
Programs
and Services
MPB's Education Services division offers a variety
of programs and services to the educational community.
We still continue to offer a plethora of ITV programs
that can be recorded from our overnight block feed,
or purchased from our video duplication center for
classroom use. Our School
Resource Guide and several of our teacher
guides are now available to download right here
from our Web site.
The new 2005-2006 School Resource Guide
is coming soon!
Professional
Development
Education Specialists are available to conduct
FREE staff development workshops at schools across
the state on a variety of topics that include: video
copyright issues, ITV utilization in the classroom
and curriculum/series specific workshops.
MPB
Express (unitedstreaming/DigitalCurriculum)
Mississippi Public Broadcasting is offering a new
service called MPB Express to
schools all across the state. MPB Express is composed
of video on demand, or videostreaming curriculum
content, key concepts, photos and clips, resources
and other material all correlated to the Mississippi
Curriculum Framework, from AIMS Multimedia and Discovery
Education. This service allows administrators, teachers
and students to view video content and create and
do lessons on any computer with Internet capability.
And the good part is, this service is at no
cost to your school district!
Mississippi
Interactive Video Network
The MIVN classroom, housed at our headquarters,
is designed to enhance learning by bringing far
away places into the classroom. Now a teacher can
instruct students that are assembled in a class
hundreds of miles away through state of the art
technology!
TEAMS/Teaching
Circles
MPB is able to offer TEAMS video programming free
to Mississippi schools. TEAMS offers video classroom
instruction for grades K-8. The TEAMS Website has
valuable information related to their programming,
extended activities and Internet resources.
TeacherLine
Mississippi Public Broadcasting partnered with
PBS TeacherLine in a Star Schools Grant from 2000-2005
to provide innovative, online staff development
to K-12 teachers statewide. Though the grant has
ended, MPB continues to offer a variety of facilitated,
standards-based courses. Locally-offered TeacherLine
courses give teachers the benefit of building community
with other Mississippi teachers in courses that
are facilitated by PBS-trained, certified Mississippi
educators. (See our ‘Staff' page) Focus areas are
technology integration, reading, math, evaluation
and assessment. Teachers can now earn CEUs or graduate
credit by completing online courses. MPB is proud
to be providing this cutting edge, technology-driven
offering to Mississippi teachers. |
