29. In November, Democrat
DeWayne Thomas had the
most votes, but questions
about some of the ballots
led to a special election
called for today by
the senate. Now Governor
Barbour is involved
in the efforts by incumbent
Senator Richard White
who thinks it all depends
on who gets the most

A new office
at the state department
of education is focused
on helping promote a
healthy lifestyle among
the state's public school
students
The office
of healthy schools will
combine the education
department's existing
health related resources.
It will focus on a child's
lifestyle at home, in
addition to fitness
and nutrition. Deputy
state superintendent
of education John Jordan
says the office was
created with the help
of a 600 thousand dollar
grant from the Bower
