  • Medicaid changes approved in Senate Committee
    Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour is pleased with passage of his Operation Streamline Medicaid Legislation in the Medicaid Subcommittee of the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee. The proposal was opposed by State Senator Hob Bryan of Amory who said he opposed eliminating children from the Children's Health Insurance Program in the proposal. (0:11)

  • American Cancer Society urging cigarette tax increase
    If you are a smoker in Mississippi, the American Cancer Society wants you to pay more to light up. The group spent the day at the capitol Tuesday lobbying legislators to increase the tax on cigarettes by 50 cents per pack. They say the change from 18 cents to 68 cents would generate 117 million dollars a year. Laurie Barker is a community ambassador with the Cancer Society. (0:16)
