Senate appropriations
panel approves Medicaid
bill
Mississippi
State Senate leaders
have addressed some
of the concerns some
had about Governor Barbour's
proposal for re-vamping
the state's Medicaid
program. The proposal
no longer requires re-certification
of participants in the
Children's Health Insurance
Program but still requires
recertification of other
Medicaid participants.
Senator Terry Burton
of Newton says the proposal
will save the state
114-point-seven million
dollars and he hopes
that once the full senate
approves it, the House
will agree with the
measure. (0:45)
Listen
Senator Willie Simmons
of Cleveland voted against
the bill and says he
had several concerns.
