    Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour said it was with regret that he accepted the resignation of state supreme court Chief Justice Ed Pittman. Wayne Sorge was at the Supreme Court as the governor received the letter notifying him of Pittman's early retirement. (1:28)

    Mississippi beef cattle growers saw one of their best years in 2003 as Cattle prices soared. That optimism evaporated in late December when it was announced one Washington state cow was diagnosed with "B-S-E" also known as "mad cow disease."
