  • Mayo makes tax presentation
    State Representative John Mayo of Clarksdale has officially presented his plan for increasing taxes to the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Representatives. Representative Mayo told his colleagues that even with cuts in state government, the cost squeeze will continue until they commit to finding the funding to maintain services. (0:33)

    Mayo doesn't expect legislators to vote on his proposal but hopes it will be a catalyst for future consideration. In the senate Appropriations Chairman Jack Gordon says there is no sentiment for an increase although there is pressure for some tax increases. (0:28)
