We are celebrating a milestone with this program. It’s our 200th episode of Mississippi Roads and for this special occasion we are going to take you behind the scenes of the show and introduce you to the people that make the magic happen.
Mississippi Roads got its start back in 1983 as a way to show off the people, places and events in Mississippi to all the citizens of the state on then what was known as Mississippi ETV. The program featured several hosts during its first twelve years on the air. Sam Dudley was the first to occupy this coveted position. Mike Morgan filled in for one year while Sam was out of the country and when Sam retired the jovial Jack Stevens took over the reigns of the show until it went off the air in 1994.
But after five years of being off the air; Mississippi Roads was brought back by poplar demand from its loyal viewers. So in 1999 Walt Grayson came on board to navigate viewers through the winding roads of Mississippi. In 2005 Acclaimed author Nevada Barr joined Walt for one season as co-host.
In the special behind the scenes look at Mississippi Roads; we introduce you to former series producers of the show and talk with the current series producer Key Ivy and the many staff members who put the program on the air.
Some of the highlights include a segment on how a Mississippi Roads story is put together, a blooper segment with Walt Grayson on location and a tribute to some of the guests who have appeared on the show.
