Southern Expressions Season Two Schedule
Mississippi Public Broadcasting's "Southern Expressions" begins its second season of discussions with some of the area’s most interesting and talented artists
Nov. 5, 2009 Randy Hayes – Creative Crossroads
Born in Mississippi, photographer/painter Randy Hayes now lives in Seattle. But he calls Mississippi home and often returns to his childhood settings for inspiration. "Creative Crossroads" is a short locally produced documentary film by Tristan Wheelock, Win Graham, Sichendra Bista. It stars artists Marshall Bouldin, Rosalind Wilcox and John Ruskey.

Nov. 12, 2009 Jason Bouldin – Sanders McNeal
Portrait artist Jason Bouldin followed in his famous father Marshall’s footsteps. But as an artist, the son also rises. Nationally recognized artist Sanders McNeal has a studio, but prefers to work plenair. Her landscapes and portraits expose Italy, Ireland, France and Mississippi.
Also scheduled to appear on Southern Expressions during the second season: Gary Walters – Andy Young, Fletcher Cox – Rosalind Wilcox, Ke Francis – Katherine Fields, Josh Hailey – Mathew Puckett, Gloria Norris – Susan Carter Hall, Leif Anderson.
And Southern Expressions also will present a one-hour special show on the history of the Mississippi Craft Center. Interviews include Gov. Bill Waller, Dan Overly and George Barry.
“Southern Expressions” features artists each week who share tales about themselves and their work. Prior guests include encaustic artist Kat Fitzpatrick, photographer Jane Rule Burdine, painters Bill Dunlap, H.C. Porter, Dub Brock and Bebe Wolfe.
Oct. 8, 2009 Lori K. Gordon – Super Chikan
Lori K. Gordon is a multi-talented artist who paints as well as she photographs and collages with found debris from Hurricane Katrina. James “Super Chikan” Johnson is a Clarksdale folk artist in the great bluesman tradition of the Delta.
