The thousands of acres offer hiking, swimming, fishing, camping, and all the fun you and your family are looking for. Patrick and Janet show off their horseback riding skills on Shockaloe Trail, a 23-mile winding path through the forest that is just for horseback riding.

Cypress Lodge Dove Hunt

John Sullivan and Melvin Tingle go to Cypress Lodge Outfitters in search of morning doves. The early season dove hunt takes us to Kilmichael, MS for an action packed event of group fun and fellowship. The action doesn’t stop after the morning hunt, because the bounty continues through the afternoon.

Buckin’ Wild Rodeo Riders

Professional bull, saddle bronco, and bare back riders from Mississippi risk life and limb to win the bucks. The 8 seconds of ride time can be described as “glory” or “terror”. We get down in the chutes with the riders as they tell us why they can’t imagine doing anything else.

Outdoor Equipment to Get Started

From firearms to rods and reels, there is always a low cost option that will get a young person started as an outdoors enthusiast. We take a few minutes with Paul Merritt of Surplus City USA Inc. in Clinton, Miss. to see what the best selection would be for kids. Then we head out to a lake in Jackson with some young anglers.

Wildlife Car Tags

Funding for the preservation of natural resources in our state is made possible in part by the sale of wildlife car tags. Purchasing one of these tags also supports public hunting lands in Mississippi. Many types of tags are available including game animals like deer, turkey, bass, and other wild creatures. Purchasing any tag helps protect and preserve our state’s habitat.
