Mississippi Outdoors - (#1509)

Hosted While Exploring Falconry

Patrick and Janet join David Hall to learn about hunting with birds of prey. David is a Master Falconer and demonstrates his Harris Hawk. These beautiful birds are graceful and the sport of hunting with them is centuries old.

Insufferable Redfishing

Reed Guice, Melvin Tingle, and Ron Walker take to the coastal marshes in search of redfish. They are fishing near Horn Island and their adventure proves to be fruitful. Waders and water get the better of one fisherman but his angling skills still prove to be competitive, even if his friendly company is “insufferable”.

Greenville Catfish Races

This is definitely a one-of-a-kind event. Catfish racing down fiberglass troughs and it’s up to Janet to coach her fish to victory. Janet is racing a catfish named Terrible Tingle in honor of our long-time host Melvin Tingle. The day turns out to hold some racing surprises and Janet gets to explore the rest of the Greenville festival along the way.

Tara Squirrel Hunt

Warren County hosts this drama as hunters attempt to capture some elusive squirrels. Melvin Tingle joins Jeffrey Woods of Etehoma Creek Kennels and the guys from Tara Wildlife for some great fun. The championship dogs live up to their reputation as the squirrel hunting action heats up.

Kids Fishing Rodeo

This fishing rodeo takes place at Turcotte Lab. The organization coordinating this event is reaching out to get more people involved in positive outdoor experiences. Most of the youth are from urban areas like metro Jackson. The worms, poles, and bobbers are all part of a fishing frenzy that is new to many of the kids. The excitement of a first time fishing catch is contagious.

Boat Building

Melvin Tingle joins Phil Faulkner from the Nautic Star Boat Factory. The boats they producer are some of the finest for outdoorsmen in the state and Mississippi Outdoors will be equipped with a boat from this facility. This boat is one vital tool in capturing the best fishing opportunities in the state and Melvin brings us to where it all comes together.
