Mississippi Outdoors - (#1514)

Hosted with Magnolia Retrievers

Patrick and Janet meet some loveable friends as we explore the world of the trained retriever. We’ll get some tips from Glen McElroy, owner and pro trainer at Magnolia Retrievers. If these dogs can perform as good as they look, Patrick and Janet should have no trouble putting them through their paces.

Hog Hunting Heaven

Melvin joins Senator Lynn Posey and the guys at Lifetime Hunts for an outdoor adventure. This two-day excursion takes the group to Macon, Mississippi. Wild hogs are the name of the game as well as some exciting moments.

Deep Sea Fishing

A group of marine researchers show the best fishing spots in the gulf, or do they?

Waterskiing

Janet gets all wet when she goes water skiing with some professional skiers who call Madison home. These guys are champions in slalom skiing and Janet does her best to keep up as they take her through some course training. You really need some practice to be able to get around the buoys going almost 35 miles an hour.

RCW Saviors

Red-cockaded Woodpeckers are few and far between. The problem is that their original habitats are decreasing. Foresters are working to support this species in Morton, Mississippi by constructing bird boxes inserted into tree trunks before they are acceptable to these woodpeckers.

Bass Masters Tournament

Over 400 professional fishermen converge on Lake Columbus for this huge event. It takes place near Starkville and all these anglers have come to fish one of Mississippi's premier fishing lakes. They are all looking for big money and prizes, because it’s the Bass Masters challenge in Columbus.
