The town was established on The Gulf and Ship Island Railroad in 1900. The site was selected by a railroad employee and the post office located in Old Taylorsville, about six miles away, was moved to "New Taylorsville" thus establishing the town.

Taylorsville was founded as a direct result of the immense pine forest that grew in the county and surrounding area. With lumber being plentiful, many businesses and homes were rapidly built and today the industry is a vital part of the economy of Taylorsville.

In our first story we take an unorthodox look at the road side attractions on Highway 49 between Jackson and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

In Jackson we meet Rhonda Richmond, a jazz singer and musician, who has taken this musical scene by storm.

The Watkins Museum is one of Taylorsville's hidden gems that they would like to share with the rest of the state. This segment continues our look at Mississippi's Ten Most Endangered Historic Places.

Walt explore his fascination with the beauty and charm of old barns throughout the state.
