Tara Y. Wren is the Director of Education at Mississippi Public Broadcasting. With nearly 25 years of marketing, advertising, sales, public relations, cooperate and nonprofit leadership and advanced education experiences, she uses her practitioner, educator, administrative and operational skills to help fulfill the mission of MPB, which is to educate all Mississippians. Tara leads a staff who focuses on projects for children and their families, professional development for teachers and administrators, building a digital education network among high schools statewide and helping to educate about healthy lifestyles and workforce development. At MPB, she has also served as Director of Communications and Underwriting, managing public relations, digital and social media communications, design elements, community engagement and development.
Tara has worked as an adjunct professor of Mass Communication at Jackson State University since 2004; assistant professor of mass communication at Tougaloo College; strategic marketing manager for The Clarion-Ledger newspaper; executive director of Mississippi Cultural Crossroads and director of marketing for JSU.
Tara received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications (advertising sales) and a Masters of Business Administration (marketing) from Jackson State University. She is currently writing her dissertation towards receiving her PhD in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Mass Communication and Journalism.
