Mississippi Power says its Kemper County Energy Facility will be the world's most advanced coal plant, once it is completed. However, the development of the integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power facility has caused controversy as costs have risen billions of dollars over budget, and construction is lagging behind schedule. Despite these setbacks, the innovative technology that the Kemper facility will utilize is gaining attention from energy leaders around the world.
