Entergy Mississippi has announced the launch of Superpower Mississippi, the largest and most comprehensive grid upgrade in the company’s history. The $300 million investment aims to reduce power outages by 50% over the next five years—at no additional cost to customers.

The initiative is made possible by new revenue from large industrial customers, including Amazon, whose recent investments in Mississippi are helping offset the cost of the project. Entergy Mississippi President and CEO Haley Fisackerly said the plan will strengthen the grid while keeping customer rates well below the national average.

“Superpower Mississippi will transform the power grid like we’ve never seen before with better power at a lower cost,” Fisackerly said. “We’re investing 50% more in reliability to reach a 50% reduction in outages, all at 0% added cost to our customers.”

The company will seek approval from the Mississippi Public Service Commission to increase grid improvement spending by $300 million, bringing the total investment to nearly $1 billion. Planned upgrades include stronger utility poles, smart devices for real-time monitoring, and expanded vegetation management to address the growing number of outages caused by dead trees and severe weather.

Vegetation-related outages have nearly doubled in 2025 compared to the three-year average before the 2023 drought. Entergy has already removed more than 25,000 dead trees this year and plans to expand those efforts under the new initiative.

Public Service Commissioners praised the plan. Central District Commissioner De’Keither Stamps called it a “historic grid upgrade” and credited the collaboration between state leadership, utilities, and private industry. Southern District Commissioner Wayne Carr added, “It’s promising these upgrades will move our state forward successfully into the future while keeping our rates affordable.”

Customers across Entergy Mississippi’s 45-county service area can expect to see reliability work begin immediately and continue through 2030. For more information, visit entergymississippi.com/superpowerms.
