The Instructional Resource division appreciates those schools that operate within our Digital Education Network (DEN). The DEN is a free service to Mississippi schools designed to enhance learning through the utilization of technology. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March the schools in our network hung in there and continued to go above and beyond to meet the needs of the students who required courses not offered at their schools. MPB Education would like to thank the principals, teachers, and staff at the following schools: Ashland High School, Coffeeville I & II High Schools, East Webster High School, Ethel Attendance Center, Eupora High School, Holly Springs High School, Holmes County Central High School, Jefferson County High School, McAdams High School, Mississippi School for the Blind, Northside High School, Port Gibson High School, West Bolivar High School, and Wilkinson County High School.

Teachers’ and Administrators’ appreciation should not be limited to one day a year. It is something that needs to be continually said and done. These educators exemplified a high level of tenacity during Covid-19. Moreover, let us not forget the facilitators and counselors that keep everything rolling. Hats off to them as well.

We have monitored and seen these teachers at work. We would like to celebrate one teacher that has gone above and beyond to make her class exciting and engaging, Mrs. Pinkerton of Delta State University. Mrs. Pinkerton incorporates music and engaging activities while teaching Spanish. She makes the lesson come alive through the Polycom system. Mrs. Pinkerton is one of many educators that teach within the DEN. These teachers exemplify the utmost professionalism. In 2021 we will highlight one teacher in the network each quarter that goes above and beyond. Educators not only teach specific subjects but they also nurture, counsel and coach their students. Here in the Education Department, we are excited to showcase these remarkable educators.

The DEN uses various educational technology to deliver course content, enhance classroom instruction, and provide resources not available locally. When a school cannot find a certified teacher, the DEN network can fill the void. The network assists school districts by offering courses to students regardless of their location. That means a teacher can instruct students assembled in a classroom hundreds of miles away through state-of-the-art technology!
