Email share

On Monday, March 2 students at Dawson Elementary in Jackson participated in a reading celebration honoring the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The students and teachers danced with the Cat in the Hat, participated in a read-aloud of Dr. Seuss books, enjoyed hands-on activities led by the Cat in the Hat and the Mississippi Public Broadcasting staff.

Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) hosted this literacy event to highlight the value of reading.

The event kicks-off the 2015 Read Across America tour celebration in Mississippi sponsored by MPB. The tour will reach over 2,000 children in nine Mississippi schools from March 2 to April 2. Each student will receive a book and a book bag with Dr. Seuss fun stuff. The reading celebrations are made possible by a grant from the Ready To Learn initiative.
