The Mississippi Department of Human Services has begun issuing the remaining Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November, the agency announced Friday.

According to the agency, clients may see their full benefit balance available as early as today. The delay in distribution followed a brief federal government shutdown that temporarily disrupted funding.

MDHS is encouraging SNAP recipients to check their EBT account balances to confirm receipt of benefits.

The department also said that, based on current guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service, full December benefits are expected to be issued on time.

As benefits are distributed, MDHS is reminding clients to take steps to protect their accounts. Recipients are advised to register for a Connect EBT account, save the ConnectEBT site to their phone’s home screen, and change their PIN after each use to reduce the risk of fraud or skimming.

Clients should monitor their account activity regularly and report any suspicious transactions to MDHS. Reports can be submitted at mdhs.ms.gov/help/snap/snap-fraud.

For ongoing updates, clients are encouraged to follow MDHS on social media or visit mdhs.ms.gov.
