Today MSDH is reporting an additional 1,032 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 24 deaths (7 of which occurred between May 11 and July 7, identified from death certificates). Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 40,829, with 1,332 deaths.
13 of the new cases reported today were among residents in long-term care facilities, along with 8 deaths. Active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities have increased again, to 140 statewide (where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff).
Currently, there are 853 Mississippians hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infection, and 223 more with suspected COVID-19.
