Today MSDH is reporting an additional 1,036 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 44 deaths. Twenty-four deaths occurred between January 22 and February 5, and 20 occurred between December 24 and February 2, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases now stands at 280,778, with 6,266 deaths.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 9 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities, and 7 deaths. There are currently 143 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
