MSDH reports 1,251 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths

Today MSDH is reporting an additional 1,251 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 3 deaths. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 43,889, with 1,358 deaths.

There are now 140 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities (where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff).

909 Mississippians are currently hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infection, and 219 more with suspected COVID-19.

Our latest estimate of COVID-19 recoveries is 30,315 statewide since cases began in Mississippi.

Our COVID-19 case rate responds quickly when precautions are taken. We have seen a dramatic increase, but we can expect a sharp fall in cases if we simply take protective steps. Staying home more often, keeping a sensible distance from others, and using a mask have worked for us before, and they can work again.
