Today MSDH is reporting an additional 1,701 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 28 deaths. Three deaths occurred between December 25 and December 26, and 25 occurred between November 12 and December 20, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 208,089, with 4,634 deaths.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 40 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities and 15 deaths. There are currently 235 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
