Today MSDH is reporting an additional 2,050 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 45 deaths. Twenty-seven deaths occurred between January 16 and January 21, and 18 occurred between December 18 and January 17, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 261,167, with 5,713 deaths.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 12 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities and 5 deaths. There are currently 201 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
