Today MSDH is reporting an additional 2,575 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 29 deaths. Eleven deaths occurred between December 19 and December 31, and 18 occurred between November 17 and December 28, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 218,386, with 4,816 deaths.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 21 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities, and 10 deaths. There are currently 236 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
