MSDH reports 656 new COVID-19 cases, 73 deaths

Today MSDH is reporting an additional 656 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 73 deaths. Thirty-one deaths occurred between February 1 and February 8, and 42 occurred between December 24 and February 4, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases now stands at 282,969, with 6,342 deaths. NOTE: One death previously reported from Pontotoc County was counted twice, and has been corrected.

Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 7 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities and 8 deaths. There are currently 136 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
