Today, MSDH is reporting an additional 853 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 15 deaths (five of which occurred between August 26 and September 4, identified from death certificates). Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 89,175, with 2,670 deaths. Note: A death counted twice in Simpson County has been corrected.
Long-term care facilities have reported 101 new cases among residents, and 12 deaths. There are now 133 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
