Today MSDH is reporting an additional 957 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 16 deaths. Ten deaths occurred between September 23 and October 9, and six occurred between September 25 and October 1, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 104,638, with 3,096 deaths.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 21 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities, and 5 deaths. There are currently 126 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
